GELID’s GC-EXTREME claims to be a high-performance thermal paste. After utilizing many thermal pastes over the years and trying to squeeze as much cooling capacity as possible out of our cooling hardware, we decided to try GELID’s GC-Extreme to compare it against the Arctic Silver 5 (AS5) we had been using on a system for the previous 2 years.

Since many thermal pastes perform pretty similarly at idle and casual system usage temperatures, we decided to check the capabilities of the thermal pastes at the higher end of the heat spectrum. With an extreme overclock, overclocked approximately 1GHz past stock clocks on a delidded Intel I7-4770k being cooled by an entry-level Lepa AIO cooler.

As you can see in the video above, the results were much more substantial than we expected.
